Naturally, continuing on with my search for a professional mentor, and "career-hunting". Today I was not able to touch base with as many people as I did last week but it is only Monday, and let's face it; Who really likes Mondays?
Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with my Bank's branch manager, so I'm going to pick his brain for information on good ways of marketing myself, and my unique skill set.
Almost done the group-HR project for class... dealing with "interviews" tomorrow, mock-up interviewing processes with fellow students to do a personal assessment on how well we can act as interviewers, as well as add the Q&A to our project.
Well, I'm off to go retry tying my tie... Say that 10 times fast with a mouth-full of marbles!

New Beginnings
Captains....log...star-date... never mind. Well on top of the drastic, and numerous changes in my life, unfortunately like all lazy people I've gained a tonne of weight. I have a gym membership, but still lack motivation. After going 2-4 times a week for an hour a day, I've begun to notice a minute change, but I'm more energetic (scary thought considering I'm wired all the time).
Today was different though, my Fiancé decided to try out my gym with a 14-day free membership! She seemed to enjoy it, even though she found it awkward. We both grew up in the country, and lived or spent most of our youth on a farm, where you get a full body workout 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. So the hilarity of feeling like a hamster in a wheel sunk in.
After getting past that 'awkward' feeling, she found herself actually enjoying it, and only having to deal with the occasional giggle-fit. We are starting more than one new beginning together; First was actually planning our wedding, second was myself getting enrolled in College, and now we're trying to live healthier lives.
It's a lot all at once, or at least in a short time-frame. I went from being a dead-end job working, high school drop-out alcoholic with no social life except online video games, to being a "Stellar student" (Verbatim quote from my Career Services advisor Anthony), and a business professional in the span of just over a year. Wow... Actually seeing it in writing really hits home.
This just goes to prove, that no matter where you come from, it's where you're going that matters, so look up, take the high road, and soar over all expectations.
"If practice makes perfect, and nobodies perfect, why practice? So you can achieve Excellence."
Have a great day,

What brought me here.
Well, this is my first attempt at writing a blog, so I will explain how I got here.
In mid July of 2011 I decided, with the support of my Fiancé, that I would complete my education. I floundered after dropping out of high school in grade 10, and had yet done anything with my life.
After countless hours searching for a local facility in which I could write my G.E.D. and having no luck I accidentally stumbled across Everest College, through a pop-up. I filled out their 'request more information' form, walked to my kitchen and made a coffee. Half way back to my computer, the phone rang, and it was Everest's call-centre, asking if I had a moment to speak with a representative.
To make a long story short, that day, I walked to the Kitchener campus, spent three hours, and left completely enrolled for a business administration program.
I have had an interesting 7½ months at my school, and I am graduating with honours April 20th. I have had a lot of self discovery during my time at Everest, learning that I have more professional skills than I have given myself credit for.
I know, without the support of my Fiancé Alicia, I would not have been able to succeed as much as I have, and for that I will be forever grateful. I began my job-search and networking scavenger hunt in late December, which has become even more directed and refined the closer I get to graduation.
I will try to keep an up-to-date account of things I'm covering in school, as well as the progress of my Job hunt, and maybe discuss some other points as well.
"Today is a great day, as is every-day, if you don't believe me; Try missing one."
